Steve Pearce Statement on MA Election Results

HOBBS, NM - Former Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement today in response to the Massachusetts election results:

"Massachusetts voters stopped liberals in Congress in their tracks. Voters do not want government health care. The agenda of continually expanding the size of government and ignoring the real problems facing working families must end. Voters in Massachusetts and around the country are saying slow down, read the bill, try small incremental fixes that we can all understand.

This all started with a small grassroots movement. When people stand up and make some noise, they can make a difference. So keep calling, keep writing. Keep making your voice heard. It may not seem like it, but the politicians in Washington are listening.

The election results last night should serve as a wake-up call to change business as usual in Washington within both parties. Congress has been too busy with partisan posturing and has forgotten that turning our economy around and creating jobs must be the top priority.

People in this country know we have big problems; jobs, containing wasteful spending and making incremental fixes to health care. If we don't address these problems together our economy will continue to suffer. This is a chance for Congress to hit the reset button and start working for the families that are hurting. We will see if they take this opportunity to do so."
