Washington, D.C. - Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life Political Action Committee, announced their endorsement of Steve Pearce (R-NM), Republican candidate for election to the U.S. Senate in New Mexico.
Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser commented on the endorsement: "The Susan B. Anthony List is proud to endorse Steve Pearce, a strong leader who will represent all Americans, born and unborn, in the U.S. Senate. We are eager to support dedicated pro-life heroes when they need it most. The consequences of disengagement are dire. The lives of the most vulnerable children and their mothers are on the line. Steve Pearce is the best candidate to confirm sound Supreme Court nominees and protect human life in the Senate." Steve Pearce is a Republican candidate for New Mexico Senate. He currently represents New Mexico's Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Pearce has a 100% pro-life voting record
as a Member of Congress.
Pearce will face fellow Republican Member Heather Wilson (R-NM) in the Republican Primary on June 3, 2008. Wilson has a mixed voting record on Life issues. Throughout her decade in Congress, she has voted in favor
of taxpayer funding for embryonic stem cell research, Planned Parenthood, and the United Nations Population Fund, which is linked to China's coercive family planning programs. She has also voted in favor of FDA approval of the RU-486 abortion pill. The winner of the GOP Primary race will go on to face Congressman Tom Udall, a Democrat who favors abortion rights. The race is rated a "Toss-Up" by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.
Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund endorsements are posted on the PAC website, www.sba-listcf.org, which allows Susan B. Anthony List members to bundle contributions for endorsed candidates, access political updates about key Congressional races, register to vote, and engage in pro-life advocacy efforts. The SBA List Candidate Fund supports
pro-life female candidates, as well as pro-life male candidates who run against pro-choice female candidates. The Susan B.
